October 25, 2023 (afternoon): Field trip to Kibokoni fish farm and Dabaso Crab Shack Departing from Muthu Nyali Beach Hotel and Spa at 1 pm, we will proceed to the Umoja self-help group's fish farm in Kibokoni, Kilifi County. Here, milkfish and prawns are cultivated, providing us with an opportunity to interact with the farmers. Following that, we will venture to the Crab Shack in Dabaso to explore their crab farm and engage with the Dabaso Conservation Group. Our day will culminate with a delightful dinner at their restaurant. We anticipate our return to Muthu Nyali Beach Hotel and Spa around 8 pm.
October 26, 2023: Workshop for Kenyan Marine Aquaculture Stakeholders The workshop, held at the Muthu Nyali Beach Hotel and Spa, provides a platform for stakeholders dedicated to advancing Kenya's marine aquaculture. The workshop will facilitate discussions and strategic planning for future scenarios of marine aquaculture and capacity development in Kenya.
October 27-28, 2023: Marine aquaculture training course The training course, available to Kenyan students, is generously sponsored by the AfriMAQUA Network (IRD-France, NRF-South Africa). It encompasses lectures by South African and French scientists on October 27 at Muthu Nyali Beach Hotel and Spa, located in Nyali, Mombasa. Additionally, a field trip is scheduled for October 28, during which we will visit various aquaculture farms in the region to gain insights into practical aspects.
